Marieanne Spacey-Cale is encouraging supporters to come along to AFC Totton this afternoon and play their part in Southampton FC Women's title bid.

Saints will be crowned champions of the Southern Region Women's Football League Premier Division with a point or more against Barton Rovers, with kick-off set for 2pm at Testwood Community Stadium.

Spacey-Cale's side have won all 16 of their games so far this season – the latest of which was a 6-0 home win over Warsash Wasps on Wednesday – and will be optimistic of sealing the trophy today, and the team's head coach is hopeful of being able to do so in front of a big crowd.

"It's so important for the players to see that everything they've done this season and how they've grown on the pitch has been supported off the pitch as well," she said.

"They were singing on Wednesday night and you could see it visibly lift the players, because it's not an environment that they're probably used to, and the more people who can come to the games the more that noise has grown, and the players have grown with it.

"They want to perform for each other, they want to perform for the fans who turn up and all of them want to do well, so the more people we can get there to support on Sunday it will be fantastic, because the girls really appreciate it and buzz off of people being there and supporting them.

"The whole squad are really focused on finishing off this season on a high and then looking to develop again next season.

"It was great on Wednesday night – there was a real positive vibe around in the dressing room after the game and on the pitch, and we have fantastic support.

"Everyone at AFC Totton has been brilliant, the supporters have been fantastic, they were noisy on Wednesday night and it just spurs the girls on, because they know the support is there and they want to perform for those supporters."

This afternoon's game takes place at Testwood Community Stadium, Salisbury Road, Totton, SO40 2RW.

Entry is free for concessions and Season Ticket holders on production of their Season Ticket cards, while adult tickets are £2.
