Ralph Hasenhüttl says the commitment shown by the Southampton supporters on the longest away trip of the season will not go unnoticed and will act as further motivation at Newcastle.

A total of 1,700 Saints fans will be making the approximately 650-mile round-trip to St James' Park for Saturday's game, and Hasenhüttl is hoping he and his players can make it a memorable one for them.

it's always a pleasure to be supported from these guys.

"It means a lot," he said. "It's amazing, and it gives us the demand that we have to show them a very good performance, because they will support us after a long way travelling there.

"There is nothing better than having a good emotional moment together in the stadium.

"I think we had a lot of very good away games so far and it was always a pleasure to play and to be supported from these guys and I hope that we have another good one this weekend."

The game will be the first of three in the space of eight days for Saints, with a trip to Watford on Tuesday and a home game against Bournemouth the following Saturday to come.

"With one game more it will be busier, but, to be honest, I like this period more than the period where we had three weeks with no game," said Hasenhüttl.

"That was not so nice, because to keep the motivation high in this period is not so easy. Now it's easier, because we know there are tough games coming up and that's how the players like it."
