Under-23s boss Radhi Jaïdi praised his young side's work ethic in the aftermath of their 4-1 triumph over Norwich City at Staplewood on Friday evening.

The three points were enough for Saints to reclaim top spot in Premier League 2, temporarily at least, as title rivals Wolves don't play until Monday.

Pleased with the win, as well as the performance, Jaïdi also commended the way his side outworked their opponents throughout the 90 minutes, adding that most teams would find it difficult to keep pace with Saints' impressive tempo.

"Credit to the boys, I thought the performance was excellent," he began. "We've got ourselves into a really exciting position and we're going to keep pushing until the end.

"We want to put pressure on Wolves; that's how you keep a league competitive.

"It all starts with hard work, and let me say that the attitude from the boys was spot on tonight. They're making it hard for me to pick a starting XI.

"Some individuals were disappointed to be on the bench. Will [Smallbone] coming on as a substitute, and taking his goal as he did, sums it up.

"These boys have the desire, they want to win something. We'll take a lot of confidence from tonight, the spirit is good but we must stay focussed."
