There’s a huge amount riding on tonight’s Premier League 2 encounter, when Saints in first meet Wolverhampton Wanderers in second at Molineux Stadium.
With four league games to go, the result could well define who claims this year’s PL2 title, and the ultimate prize of automatic promotion to Division One.
Under-23s boss Radhi Jaïdi is maintaining calm in camp, but knows that excitement levels are naturally higher for a fixture of this magnitude, on a big stage and with plenty of importance on the outcome.
“There is a lot of confidence as it stands,” Jaïdi began. “The most important thing for me is to control that confidence.
“There's always excitement when it comes to a matchday. Through the season we've built up good levels of understanding, learning how to manage games.
“The best proof was Wednesday against Villarreal, the boys showed real maturity.
“It's not a surprise to me that we're in this position. We prioritise development here, and the approach is still the same, but ultimately we want the boys developing into winners.
“It's a great experience, winning games, and we're competing at the top. The Wolves game is one of the biggest games of the season, as the outcome means so much. The expectation is high.”
