Southampton's current manager Ralph Hasenhüttl will go up against the club's former boss Mauricio Pochettino for the first time today – and it is a challenge he is looking forward to taking on.
Pochettino will be back at St Mary's again this afternoon, albeit in the directors' box and not the technical area due to the touchline ban he is beginning, as his third-placed side visit for an important Premier League clash, which has implications at both ends of the table.
ralph hasenhüttlit is one of the tactically more interesting games for me as a manager.
Hasenhüttl and his Spurs counterpart appear to share something of a similar philosophy on how they want their teams to play, and the Saints boss explained that facing an opponent of Tottenham's style provides a challenging tactical battle but one that he also relishes.
"Sure, it is one of the tactically more interesting games I think for me as a manager," he said.
"Pochettino has made a fantastic job in Tottenham since he has been there. Without spending a lot of money he has created a lot of quality, and that shows how great he is as a manager. It will be an interesting game."
With a sold-out St Mary's expected for the game, Hasenhüttl wants to not only see another big performance from his side, but also something to show for it at the end.
"I think these home games are always big for supporters and for us also," he said.
"We had one big experience against Arsenal at home – it's long ago now. We had since then three games against the big teams.
"Chelsea we took a point, Arsenal and Man United away we performed not so bad but it was not enough, so I think it's time to not only perform good but also to take something and that's the goal for the weekend."
