Southampton FC Women continued their superb season with a 9-0 drubbing of Wargrave in the weekend's League Cup quarter-final clash, which sets up a semi-final meeting with Wycombe Wanderers.
Chloe Newton fired Marieanne Spacey-Cale's side into a commanding first-half lead, netting a hat-trick, before the clock had even ticked over the half-hour mark.
The first was a composed finish after latching onto a through ball from Emma Whitlock, before lashing a volley into the top right hand corner two minutes later, and completing her treble when found by Georgie Freeland in the box for a first-time finish.
Three soon became four, with Newton the beneficiary once more, as Saints cruised towards half-time with a six-goal advantage, thanks to an additional quick-fire brace from Rachel Wood - who was helped by some clumsy defending from a corner.
Caitlin Collighan netted twice in the second period, before Newton added insult to injury with her fifth of the game - and Saints' ninth.
The victory is good preparation for next week's Hampshire Cup semi-final against bitter rivals Portsmouth, which is set to be played at the The PMC Stadium.
