Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhüttl has called upon his players to be brave when they take on Arsenal this weekend in the Premier League.

Hasenhüttl has overseen an intense body of work at Staplewood in his first full week to start his implement his philosophy, as Saints look to respond to their defeat at Cardiff City last time out.

And he is hoping that his side will feel the benefit of their efforts when they meet Unai Emery’s men during his first home game at St Mary’s.

“It started on Monday with cancelling the day off because had a lot of mind work to do and on Tuesday and Wednesday we had very intensive training sessions,” Hasenhüttl began.

“I think the guys are very interested in what we are doing and they can see our intentions.

“The main problem we are facing is the defensive stability. We work together as a team to defend and it starts from the front so these things I think you have seen.

“The goal now is to bring it on to the pitch on Sunday and to show it over the whole 90-95 minutes.

“Arsenal have not lost for two months but you know against these teams that if you are brave, you wait on your chance and grab it with both hands then a surprise is not impossible.

“To be well prepared and to work hard together are the basics and fundamental and the rest would be that when you get the ball make the right decisions, be brave and be in a good transition forward.”
