Some of Radhi Jaïdi's youngsters are currently enjoying a taste of training at first-team level as the Ralph Hasenhüttl era gathers pace at Staplewood.
The manager was there to watch Saints' midweek triumph over West Ham, and selected a few individuals for his training group off the back of impressive performances.
But while Jaïdi is pleased some of his players are making strides towards the next level, he knows that others still have a job to do in Premier League 2 on Friday night, as the Under-23s prepare to host Newcastle.
"The boys are fit enough to deliver a similar performance to Tuesday," Jaïdi begun.
"They're always ready to compete, so two games in a week shouldn't be a problem.
"The performance against West Ham was one of our best, we ticked a lot of boxes and the manager (Ralph Hasenhüttl) was pleased with what he saw.
"He's picked out individuals to train with him, that's the reward. We keep working hard to push these boys towards the first team.
"It's hugely beneficial to be able to taste the first-team environment. They understand the demands, the intensity and what's required.
"We have boys that are now able to show their quality at the next level, so I'm delighted."
