Stuart Armstrong believes there are lessons to be learned from the number of closely-fought games in which points have got away from Southampton this season.
Another such example was Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at Fulham, in which Saints held a 1-0 lead and later drew level at 2-2, but ended up with nothing to show for their efforts.
The Scot, who opened his Premier League goalscoring account with a brace at Craven Cottage, is eyeing progression to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup as Saints seek a return to winning ways at Leicester tomorrow.
“We have to learn from these games, of course we do,” Armstrong said, speaking after the Fulham game.
“Tuesday is a good chance to make amends, move forward and progress.
“The quality is there – we have a very talented squad and I feel we’re better than the league position shows.
“We’ve had a number of results where we’ve ended up with a draw when we’ve felt we could’ve had more, so we need to start turning those draws into wins.”
