International preview: Crunch clash for England

Two Saints will conclude their Nations League campaigns this afternoon as the international action continues.

Goalkeeper Alex McCarthy, who made his England debut as a half-time substitute in Thursday’s friendly win over USA, could feature again in the decisive meeting with Croatia at Wembley (2pm GMT).

Both teams could still be promoted or relegated from League A, while a draw would see current table toppers Spain progress to next summer’s semi-finals.

At the other end of the international experience spectrum, Steven Davis could earn his 107th cap when Northern Ireland host Austria in Belfast (5pm GMT).

Davis’s team are already consigned to relegation after Austria played out a goalless draw with group winners Bosnia on Thursday, but will hope to build on an encouraging performance against neighbours Republic of Ireland last time out.
