International round-up: Two Saints in Friday action

By SFC Media time Fri 16 Nov International

Maya Yoshida played the full 90 minutes as Japan were held to a 1-1 with Venezuela at Oita Stadium in their latest friendly.

Japan took the lead five minutes before the break when Shoya Nakajima teed up Hiroki Sakai to finish smartly from close range.

But late in the game, Tomás Rincón levelled things from the spot after Luis Gonzalez was brought down by Sakai in the box.

In Cardiff, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Jannik Vestergaard both watched on as Denmark prevailed as 2-1 winners against Wales. An incisive counter-attack saw Yussuf Poulsen set up Nicolai Jørgensen for a clinical low finish past Wayne Hennessey on 43 minutes.

Late on, Martin Braithwaite's volley doubled the visitors advantage before Gareth Bale gave the Welsh a lifeline when he latched on to Ashley Williams's raking pass to finish. The result secured top spot in Group B4 for Åge Hareide's men.

Moi Elyounoussi played the duration of Norway's Nations League clash with Slovenia, as they left it late to earn a point in a 1-1 draw. Benjamin Verbic has given the home side an early lead on 9 minutes, but with five minutes of normal time remaining, Havard Nordtveit crossed for Bjorn Johnsen to head home.
