Saints' Under-23s return to Premier League Cup action tonight, with a home tie against Newcastle United, and will be full of confidence thanks to October's positive form.
Radhi Jaïdi's youngsters have enjoyed a hat-trick of successes in PL2 over the past couple of weeks, propelling them up to second in the league standings, and Jaïdi is looking for an equally strong showing in tonight's cup competition.
Their cup opener, a hard-fought 2-1 win over Leeds, lessens the pressure somewhat, but Jaïdi knows what a win could do for Saints' chances of progression, and is particularly pleased with the focus he's seeing from his young charges.
"Tonight will be another tough game," he began. "It is all about us, we need to keep momentum going.
"They've achieved a lot recently, and I want to keep moving forward. We'll press high tonight, and maintain the pressure because we want to be on the front foot.
"We're keeping the boys focussed on what we're trying to achieve, which is results of course, but also personal development and improvement.
"Newcastle will try and play football, they've had some good results recently, including beating Man United, so I'm expecting it to be competitive.
"We want to win all of our home games. It goes without saying, that is what will provide you with a good platform, both in the cup and league.
"We'll keep chasing our overall aims, which is pushing players towards the first team. I'm really pleased for Michael [Obafemi] this week, he's made a terrific start to the season and deserves recognition.
"But we've also got other boys training with the senior squad, and that's really pleasing to see."
