Mark Hughes praised Southampton's following at Bournemouth as magnificent, and explained how important that backing will be again next weekend for the clash with Newcastle.
Saints had a sold-out away crowd backing them at Vitality Stadium, as they earned a 0-0 draw with a determined performance, and attention now turns to this Saturday's home game with the Premier League's bottom-placed club.
"Our away support, as always, was magnificent, and we're going to need everybody next week," said the Saints boss.
"It's a huge game for us, but I think everybody saw [at Bournemouth] that, on our day, we can match all the teams around us.
"We just need to make sure we're getting maximum points when we're in the ascendancy. That's been the one failing for us and clearly it's going to frustrate if it carries on, but I think everyone saw we were trying to do the right things, had a game-plan that we committed to, and, on another day, should have got the three points."
