Bournemouth Echo reporter Dan Rose gives an insight into what Southampton can expect from a trip to face the Cherries in the Premier League.

It’s been a blistering start to the season, what do you put this success down to?

It’s been impressive. Cherries have really shown their pedigree throughout the majority of the opening fixtures.

There has been the odd hiccup along the way but, for the most part, an intense pre-season against some top European sides such as Marseille, Sevilla and Real Betis seems to be paying dividends.

New recruits in David Brooks, Jefferson Lerma and Diego Rico have settled in well which is always a boost.

Probably more than anything, Cherries have been clinical when chances have come their way.

How have they set-up tactically so far this campaign?

Normally in a 4-4-1-1 with the wide players really looking to get forward and support. Eddie Howe likes to attack and he’s been rewarded with 16 Premier League goals so far this season. Only Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea have scored more.

Who have been the standout performers in the early part of the season?

Ryan Fraser has been in electric form. He has four goals and four assists in nine games in all competitions.

He withdrew from the Scotland squad over the international break due to injury but Cherries will be hoping he is fit and ready to impress once more.

On the opposite flank, David Brooks has been a revelation since his summer arrival from Sheffield United.

He has scored in each of his past two games for Cherries and seems to have adapted seamlessly to the rigours of the Premier League.

What sort of game are you expecting this weekend?

I think there will be goals. Both sides have only kept two clean sheets from their opening eight league games and with the attacking talent on show, it should be a good spectacle.
