Mark Hughes has confirmed that the only selection issue he’ll face this weekend stems from the impressive performances of the six changes to Saints’ midweek team against Everton.
The manager tinkered with both personnel and formation at Goodison Park, but was pleased with what he saw, and has also welcomed Shane Long - missing on Tuesday - back to the fold after overcoming a toe issue.
Forward options are further boosted by the confirmation that Moi Elyounoussi has trained comfortably today, and a few others with minor concerns have also come through the training week unscathed.
“It’s important to have more than one string to your bow,” Hughes commented.
“We’ve done the work on the training ground with different formations, the guys are well aware of their roles on the pitch whether it’s 4-4-2 or 3-5-2.
“Shane Long is back, he trained today. Moi Elyounoussi also trained today, Ryan Bertrand trained and Alex McCarthy also.
“They’ll all be available as long as we don’t see a reaction overnight.”
