Southampton Football Club is delighted to announce that young goalkeeper Jack Bycroft has agreed terms on his first professional contract.

A Saints Academy product, the teenager turned 17 last week, and has celebrated by putting pen to paper on a three-year deal, taking him through until June 2021.

Upon signing, the youngster said that continuing his journey at St Mary's was undoubtedly the right choice for him and his family, having spent the best part of nine years developing his potential at Southampton.

Bycroft has been an ever present for Paul Hardyman's side this term, having made his Under-18s bow at the age of 16, and has been discussing the pride associated with wearing the badge of his local club.

"It's a very proud day for me and my family," he began. "I'm thankful to everyone who has got me to where I am so far.

"It's just the beginning, so I'm very excited to push on.

"Being at one of the biggest clubs in the country - a Premier League side - it is an honour to step out on the pitch and wear the Southampton badge on my chest."

Academy Manager Matt Hale said: “Jack has been with us since the age of eight and is a shining example of our methodology, with relation to a long-term player development programme.

"He has worked extremely hard over a long period to earn himself a professional contract.

"It’s an achievement that I know him and his family will be extremely proud of, given his level of commitment and dedication to the club. The staff here are equally as proud.”
