Young defender Jake Vokins has this week marked his ten-year Saints anniversary with a two-year contract extension, keeping him at St Mary's until 2021.

The England youth international first joined the Academy ranks as a mere eight-year-old, and having reached a milestone decade at the club, has been speaking about committing his immediate future to Southampton.

"I've grown up with this group of players from a young age, so we've developed together on and off the pitch," he began.

"Being in and around first-team training is a massive help as well. The manager is extremely experienced, and to get tips and guidance from him will only help me progress.

"The step up to Under-23s has been tough this year. It's a lot more physical, the tempo is higher, but we've made a great start with the unbeaten run.

"We're looking to get promoted and a winning mentality is crucial to that.

"I'm focussing on promotion with the Under-23s this season, and maybe a cameo appearance on the bench for the first-team if I work hard enough."
