Mohamed Elyounoussi’s Norway were defeated by a goal to nil in Bulgaria on Sunday evening while Jannik Vestergaard’s Denmark coasted past Wales in Aarhus.
In a game the Norwegians dominated, it was the hosts who left all three Nations League points, scoring through Radoslav Vasilev from Strahil Popov’s cross with their only shot on target.
Saints’ Elyounoussi – operating from the left-side of a 4-4-2 formation – featured for the full 90 minutes for his nation for the second time in the space of four days.
Bulgaria temporarily join Norway at the top of Nations League Group C3 with Cyprus and Slovenia to face off at 19.45 later in the evening.
Defender Vestergaard meanwhile was an unused substitute as a Christian Eriksen-inspired Denmark comfortably saw off the challenge of Ryan Giggs’s Wales in Group B4.
The Tottenham playmaker scored either side of half-time courtesy of a flowing team move and a 63rd-minute penalty to decide the result.
The international action continues on Monday with Jake Vokins, Stuart Armstrong and Cédric all in line to play a part for their respective nations.
