Southampton Football Club is pleased to welcome global investment platform eToro as a new Official Partner.

The company, which has a worldwide network of more than ten million registered users, provides people with the opportunity to invest in cryptoassets, as well as more traditional stocks and commodities, with the partnership with Saints representing one of a series of landmark deals struck between eToro and a range of Premier League clubs.

Iqbal V. Gandham, the UK Managing Director at eToro, said: “We are excited to be partnering with Southampton and make history by being the first company ever to pay for a Premier League partnership in bitcoin.

"This is very much the first small step on a long road to football fully embracing blockchain technology. Education will be key so that industries can understand the potential, however, the openness of Southampton to taking this first step, is very encouraging."

Southampton Football Club’s Commercial Director, David Thomas, said: “We are extremely pleased to be welcoming eToro as a club partner.

"They are a global company that has enjoyed tremendous success, and, like us, are always looking for new ways to innovate.

"We look forward to working with them and learning more from them about the potential that cryptocurrency and blockchain technology can have in football.”
