Thomas O’Connor has urged his Saints U23s teammates to maintain their bright start to the season but to prepared for a tough challenge against Stoke on Monday night.
Dinamo Zagreb in the PL International Cup last week and sees no reason why more of the same shouldn’t be in the offing this evening.
“It was a great honour to wear the captain’s armband and to lead what is a great bunch of lads here, it was nice to be able to do that,” he said.
“I’m happy to have had that chance against Zagreb and I’ve got to keep working the same way I have been. We’ve made a great start; two tough games and two good results.”
“The mood was very positive before both games and that’s continued so we’re looking forward to the next one.
“The message from Radhi has been the same throughout pre-season: work hard and work for each other and the results will come.”
A similar level of performance and application will be necessary to secure a third straight victory of the campaign.
“We played Stoke twice last year and got two difficult games, they are tough opposition with good quality. It will be tough, they will be physical, they’ll be good on the ball so we need to be ready for them.”
