THE MATCH

West Ham U18s vs Southampton U18s
Under-18s Premier League
Saturday 18th August, 11am BST
Little Heath Sports Centre

Saints' youngsters faced reigning league champions Chelsea on opening weekend, falling to a 3-1 defeat, while West Ham started the new campaign with a 4-1 success over Norwich.

The Hammers, in these very early stages, actually top the Under-18s standings, courtesy of last week's three points and a solid margin of victory.

Young Brazilian Bernardo Rosa netted a hat-trick to seal the perfect start for tomorrow's hosts, and will be one to watch out for as Paul Hardyman's side make the trip to the Little Heath Sport Ground.

Encouragingly, Saints were twice victors, both home and away, over their London counterparts last season.

LAST SEASON: West Ham 0-3 Saints

COACH'S THOUGHTS: Paul Hardyman

"We're looking for the same again but with a different result. I said to them after Chelsea, I was really pleased and really proud of the way they played.

"They gave it everything and we came up a little bit short in some areas, but it was the first game of the season so there are areas for development.

"Part of their development is understanding that if they keep working hard they will reap the benefits.

"West Ham are another club like ourselves with a great tradition of producing players. We've got to go there with the attitude that it's going to be tough.

"We've got to be tight at the back but with good football as well and we've been working on that this week. I'm sure as the season goes on that will develop."
