Radhi Jaïdi has said that his young side are excited for the challenge posed by a new competition this season - and not just for the added opportunity of game time.
The Premier League International Cup presents clubs with the chance to pit themselves against European competition, and Jaïdi will use Tuesday night's competition opener as a marker of where his youngsters sit in the development rankings.
The Under-23s got their league schedule off to a flyer with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Middlesbrough on Friday night, but now face a different prospect in Croatian outfit Dinamo Zagreb - who themselves have plenty of International Cup experience.
"It is a new competition for us. I think the level and the standard will be high," Jaïdi commented.
"We want the boys to learn different levels and styles of football. It'll be an exciting moment for our boys, who are hopefully going to perform well.
"Teams like Dinamo Zagreb, they'll have experience. They effectively play senior football every week.
"They've also been involved in this competition for a couple of years. Comparing ourselves to these teams will be a good reference point.
"It is all about us. I'm focussing on how we're going to start the game. We need to set our tone, be energetic and aggressive from the off.
"Imposing ourselves on the game is important, and our approach and mentality is the same. We want to develop, but we also want to win."
