Important information – Parking restrictions around St Mary's

We have recently been made aware that Southampton City Council has introduced some more robust parking restrictions in the roads surrounding St Mary’s Stadium on event days.

This means that Blue Badge holders are no longer able to park in these roads on matchdays, which are now a Tow Away Zone. These areas are marked by signs stating ‘No Loading Stadium Events Days’ and a series of single yellow blips on the kerbside.

We understand that this may create a challenge for disabled supporters and those with reduced mobility that have historically parked near to the stadium in order to attend matches.

At Southampton Football Club, we have been working on finding an alternative for our fans before the opening match of the season, on Sunday, against Burnley. Details of this temporary measure are below.

Moving forward, we are keen to talk to Blue Badge holders and their families or enablers regarding parking and travel, in order to find a longer-term solution that will be a positive addition to our current transport options, which include a free Dial-A-Ride service for disabled residents of Southampton, shuttle buses from the train station and Town Quay, as well as car parks at the stadium and nearby.

• For Sunday 12th August, with the help of Red Funnel, we have secured a number of spaces in their Triangle Car Park (full details below). You can access this car park for free by showing an attendant your Blue Badge and your match ticket/Season Ticket.

• There will be an accessible bus transporting fans from the car park itself directly to the stadium, dropping off in Melbourne Street (map below). The bus will travel twice before the match, at midday and at 12.45pm.

• The bus will depart again from the drop-off point 20 minutes after the final whistle, returning to the Triangle car Park.

• To ensure the vehicles we use are adequate for the needs of our fans, please let us know if you intend to use this service on Sunday by calling 02380 711980 or emailing [email protected]

Please do get in touch with our Supporter Relations Team with any questions, feedback, or suggestions regarding your travel on matchdays.

We are hoping to form a focus group of disabled supporters and their enablers to help us to understand the challenges and to find a longer term solution. Your input in this process is essential – please contact us on the above details.
