Southampton manager Mark Hughes says some of his players will likely be given an hour of action in the second game of pre-season, as they face Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning, in Xuzhou.

Saints are approaching the end of their two-week training camp in China, finishing off their work with Wednesday's game, before they head north to Beijing, from where they will fly home.

Having played out an entertaining 3-3 draw with Schalke, in Kunshan, last week, with Hughes fielding a different team in each half, the manager is set to take a slightly different approach this time.

"I think it will push us on again," he said. "In terms of where we're at now, we've obviously had the benefit of the first game.

the stadium is outstanding and the pitch within the stadium is good as well, so that will help us.

"The majority of the team had a good 45 minutes, and we'll probably try to put maybe 60 minutes into some of the guys, while others will have 30 minutes or so. We've got lots of time, we've got plenty of games, so everybody will have a decent amount of exposure to game time, which is important.

"The game itself, I think you will see more intensity. That's what I demand of our guys. Conditions are better – the humidity is a lot less than it was in the previous city, so we like to think we'll be able to push on with the amount of work and the level of intensity that we're able to show.

"Albeit against Schalke the numbers in terms of stats and what we hit were low, actually the heart-rate response was really high, so in terms of a training adaptation we're probably ahead of where we would be if we were still back home. So we're looking for this game to really push us on again and clearly we'd like to win it as well."

Hughes has been pleased with the work his players have put in since they arrived in Xuzhou on Sunday.

"It's been good," he said. "I think it's important, when you do get on the training field and are able to get some work done, that it's high-quality work and correct work and that's what the lads have been producing, which is good. It's nothing that I don't expect in fairness.

"The facilities here are excellent, the stadium is outstanding and the pitch within the stadium is good as well, so that will help us."
