Southampton striker Charlie Austin has been named as Saints Foundation’s PFA Community Champion for the 2017/18 season.

The award is given to a player who has shown a particular commitment to the charity’s work, with Austin supporting a number of its initiatives throughout the past year.

Head of Saints Foundation and Community Partnerships Greg Baker said: “Charlie has again been a fantastic supporter of Saints Foundation’s work over these last 12 months, as he has been ever since arriving at the club.

"During the past season, he has been out to see our work in action, as well as supporting some of our varied fundraising events, including captaining the Legends team at Game of Two Halves, and superbly co-hosting our Big Saints Quiz.

“We are fortunate to have a squad of players who fully embrace the role of the Foundation in the community, and Charlie has been the embodiment of this.

“It is our pleasure to thank him for his incredible support by naming him as our PFA Community Champion for 2017/18.”
