England WU17 bow out of Euros

By SFC Media time Fri 18 May International

England Women Under-17s' European Championship dreams came to a rather abrupt halt in Lithuania, as Germany emerged 8-0 victors from their semi-final clash.

Both Saints youngsters were named in the first XI and played the full 90 minutes, with Kayla Rendell in goal, and Phoebe Williams at right full-back.

The holders, in truth, were in control for the majority of the tie, with three first half goals almost sealing the fate of the Young Lionesses, despite a valiant second half effort.

2016 winners Germany will now bid for a third straight title in Monday's final, while England will contest the third place play-off against Spain or Finland.

Teams:

England: Rendell (GK), Williams, Roberts, Jhamat, Kuyken, Salmon (c), Ale, McKenzie, Roberts, Kearns, Griffin.

Germany: Willebrandt (GK), Donhauser, Pollak, Bernhardt, Stegemann, Aehling, Corley, Köster, Martinez, Fuso (c), Fudalla.
