Yoshida in Japan squad for Ghana friendly

Saints defender Maya Yoshida has been called up to a 27-man Japan squad for their upcoming friendly against Ghana.

The Kirin Challenge Cup 2018 clash, which forms part of Samurai Blue’s preparations for the World Cup, takes place on Wednesday 30th May in Yokohoma (11:25 BST).

It is the first indication of the players new boss Akira Nishino might choose when announces his final 23-man squad for the World Cup in Russia, which is expected to be named on 31 May.

Japan will also face Switzerland on June 8 in Lugano, Switzerland, and Paraguay on June 12 in Innsbruck, Austria ahead of the tournament.

They will face Colombia, Poland and Senegal in Group H at the World Cup.
