Højbjerg in Denmark's preliminary squad

Southampton's Pierre-Emile Højbjerg has been named in Denmark's preliminary squad ahead of the FIFA World Cup.

The 22-year-old midfielder is part of the initial 35-man group named by Åge Hareide ahead of this summer's finals, in Russia.

Højbjerg has earned his place back in the Denmark squad after a series of big performance for Saints, helping the club ensure Premier League survival in the final weeks of the campaign.

He will now hope to make the cut for the final squad and ensure his seat on the plane for Russia.

Denmark have ben drawn in Group C for the tournament, alongside Australia, France and Peru.
