Saints boss Mark Hughes confirmed that both Mario Lemina and Jan Bednarek will face late fitness tests, though ruled neither out completely, as St Mary's prepares to host league champions Man City this weekend.
The former has been missing with a hamstring strain, while Bednarek sustained a head injury when colliding with Alex McCarthy during Saints' midweek exploits in Swansea, and was taken off as a precaution.
Both will be monitored in the lead up to Sunday's 2017/18 Premier League finale, where Saints only need to maintain their favourable goal difference to guarantee safety.
"Mario we're still hopeful of getting back," Hughes explained. "But it's touch and go. It was a hamstring issue so you're never quite sure how quickly those resolve themselves. We'll have to wait on that one.
"Jan might miss out. Clearly, he had a bang to his head. He'll need checking nearer the time. Apart from that we'll have a clean bill of health."
