Despite a season defining midweek victory over Swansea, full-back Cédric is determined to round this year's campaign off positively, when Man City visit St Mary's on the concluding day of the season.
Mark Hughes's side, buoyed by two wins and a draw in their previous three, will entertain the league champions on Sunday, and Cédric is maintaining that full focus is necessary ahead of the tie.
Not taking for granted the support shown during Saints' nerve-wracking Premier League run-in, the Portuguese is grateful for the contribution of the fans, and keen to reward their loyalty at St Mary's this weekend.
"The fans, they've been with us all the way. But definitely against Swansea, in the difficult moments they sang and supported us," the 26-year-old explained.
Cédricthe fans had a big role in that win, and i thank everyone for sticking with us!
on the importance of the fans at swansea
"The fans had a big role in the win [against Swansea], and I thank everyone for sticking with us. They wanted to see the reaction from the players, and that was on show.
"Man City will be a different kind of game, but we need to face it the same way. We need to prepare the game like any other, for sure we will be studying them.
"We take it very very seriously. This is the only way I know in football to be successful, to keep focussed."
