Swansea City manager Carlos Carvalhal says his team must be at the top of their game when they host Southampton tonight.

The sides go head-to-head in a huge clash at Liberty Stadium, with Saints 17th and the Swans 18th, with only goal difference separating them.

“On Tuesday, we must be at the top of our game,” said Carvalhal, whose side lost 1-0 at Bournemouth on Saturday to extend their winless Premier League run to seven matches.

“This is the main point and the players know about that. They know they must react very fast.”

The Swans boss added: “In all circumstances it was going to be a big game that decides a lot of things.

“It’s in our hands at home. We must only look at ourselves and now we must do our job.

“We must have emotional control and we must act and do the proper things.

“We must try to make sure there are no mistakes – this is the way.

“We must keep organised, we must play with confidence and with emotional control.

“It is not a time to scream. It is a time to be focused and do the proper things.”
