On the 24th March 2018, Demfest is coming to Southampton’s West Quay Shopping Centre!
Demfest has gathered over 40 organisations to share advice on how people can live well with Dementia. There will be guest speakers and singing from local group, Thornhill Singing for the Brain.
Saints Foundation will be holding free exercise sessions, sharing healthy living tips for people affected by Dementia and providing information about the programmes we run around Southampton and the local areas. We will also be sharing specialist advice for carers of those living with Dementia. There will also be a memory box, where you can recall your favourite Saints memory.
Saints Foundation’s Generation Gains programme works specifically with isolated older people over the age of 65, many of whom do not have family members or friends to rely on.
With sessions delivered within local community settings at venues across Southampton, as well as at St Mary’s Stadium, Generation Gains has three key focuses: a core stability exercise programme that reduces the risk of falls in older people, reminiscence groups that use football and sport as a vehicle to tackle early signs of dementia and loss of memory amongst older people and an activity programme that offers a wide variety of social and physical activities, or sometimes just a chance to have a chat and a piece of cake!
