Delegates from around the world gathered at St Mary’s over the weekend for a leading sports science and medicine summit.

The 2018 Movement Conference brought together experts from areas such as physiotherapy and strength and conditioning, with the aim of helping athletes, patients and clients reach their goals of remaining injury-free and allowing them to excel in their chosen sport.

Southampton Football Club’s own Professional Development Phase Physiotherapist, Steve Sparks, presented a masterclass session at the event, which was run by Movement Performance Solutions, with a number of other renowned speakers also presenting.

Programme Chair Lincoln Blandford said: “In putting this conference together, we were very keen to capture a diverse range of world-renowned perspectives on the value of movement assessment and retraining.

“We were delighted not only by the extremely high standard of speakers’ presentations but also by the common theme that emerged throughout the two days – everyone moves differently, and we as clinicians, coaches and educators need to be sensitive to this individuality.

“It is clear this message has a global appeal, as represented by the multi-national list of delegates.

“Thanks go out to Saints for their fantastic hospitality over the weekend.”
