Mark Hughes says his side must be at their best if they are to progress in the Emirates FA Cup when they meet Wigan Athletic.

The Latics have already knocked out Premier League opposition in AFC Bournemouth, West Ham and Manchester City to reach this stage.

And with a place in the last four of the competition up for grabs, Hughes says they are well aware of the quality their opponents possess.

“They’re a difficult side to go up against. They’ve got some good players within their group and good energy,” he said.

“They have a way of playing that would test anybody as its been proven. They’re good in their own league but have the ability to test teams at a higher level.

“We have to go with there with the intention of making sure they struggle with what they’re good at and what we’re good at, we execute.”
