Matt Le Tissier believes that given his vast experience of managing in the Premier League, Mark Hughes has all the necessary tools to raise the volume at St Mary’s and steer his charges away from danger.
Speaking to BBC Radio Solent, the Saints icon commented, “It’s a pretty good appointment, I think. We needed an experienced guy and having managed over 400 games in the Premier League with four years at Blackburn and four and a half at Stoke, Mark certainly has plenty of that. Hopefully he can fire up the players.
“It’s going to be tough with five away games out of eight and the majority of that eight against teams in the top half but there are matches there that we are capable of picking up points in.
“We need to lift the mood around St Mary’s, get behind this manager and bring back the spirit of the 90s when it comes to getting out of trouble.”
