Young Saints forward Josh Sims is hoping he can have an immediate impact on his side's disappointing run of league results, after returning to the first-team's starting line-up against Stoke.

Bright on the ball, the 20-year-old produced an impressive 75 minutes yesterday and is now intent on doing the same if given the chance against Newcastle next weekend.

The Magpies are one point ahead of Saints in the standings, and Sims is aware of just how valuable maximum spoils can be when attempting to improve the side's precarious league position.

"As long as we pick up results, starting next week, it doesn't matter about any other team," Sims asserted. "One win can take us up two or three places.

"Every game now is massive; we have to view them as finals. Away games are different, but we need to pick up points wherever we can.

"I always want to create a spark in the final third, and I'm pleased to be back doing that.

"I want to try and help the team collect points, because we aren't in a great situation at the moment, so hopefully I can be that fresh face."
