In Scotland, Harry Lewis kept a clean sheet as Dundee United were frustrated in their attempts to close the gap on Championship leaders St Mirren after a 0-0 draw at Dunfermline Athletic.

Lewis impressed again during the clash, playing the duration and making a brilliant save to deny Declan McManus’ header.

Elsewhere, Harrison Reed was a stoppage time substitute as Norwich won 1-0 thanks to a James Maddison strike against Bristol City.

Sam Gallagher played the full 90 minutes as Birmingham City's three-game winning run came to an end with a 3-0 defeat against second-placed Derby County at St Andrew's.

Young forward Marcus Barnes was introduced on 59 minutes for Yeovil Town, as they drew 1-1 with Port Vale in League Two.

Francois Zoko opened the scoring for the Glovers, but they were pegged back late on by a Tom Pope penalty.

Midfielder Jordy Clasie also got valuable minutes following injury as Club Brugge recorded a 2-1 win over FC Groningen in a friendly.

Clasie played 45 minutes as goals from Jelle Vossen and Hans Vanaken secured victory in Sotogrande.
