Oriol Romeu called on his Saints team-mates to stand together and find a solution to their disappointing run of form following Boxing Day’s 5-2 defeat to Spurs at Wembley.
The visitors improved after the break, scoring twice through Sofiane Boufal and Dušan Tadić, but the damage had been done either side of the interval thanks to Harry Kane’s hat-trick and further strikes from Son Heung-Min and Dele Alli.
It was a tough result to take for Oriol but one from which he hopes his team can recover quickly before Saturday’s trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.
“We are in a tough moment but just by being together, we will turn this around,” the midfielder said.
“We reacted too late today, we gave away too many chances, too many spaces between the lines. We have another tough match coming up and we better change this or we will have the same situation again.
“Football always gives you a chance to bounce back and we have to do that straight away for everyone at the club.
“We don’t want to be down at the wrong end of the table. I don’t think Southampton should be in that position. We have to improve and then we will have a better chance of picking up points.”
