Tuesday and Wednesday night yielded two draws and two defeats for Southampton’s loanees in a full EFL midweek schedule.

Both reverses came last night in the Championship as Sam Gallagher’s Birmingham City succumbed to play-off chasers Middlesbrough by two goals to nil at the Riverside thanks to goals from Britt Assombalonga.

In the East Midlands, Harrison Reed’s Norwich were edged out by Nottingham Forest, Daryl Murphy’s 77th-minute strike separating the teams. Saints midfielder Reed played the duration at the City Ground.

On Tuesday night, Olufela Olomola featured for the full 90 minutes as his Yeovil side drew 1-1 with high-flying Notts County. The youngster might have given the hosts the lead on the stroke of half-time only to fire narrowly over the bar from the edge of the box.

Jonathan Forte gave the Magpies the lead at Huish Park but Francois Zoko netted late on for the Glovers to share the points.

Elsewhere, Ryan Seager was an unused substitute in MK Dons’ 1-1 draw with Southend.
