Nathan Redmond has thanked the Southampton fans for their continued support and urged them to stick with the team.
The winger offered an honest assessment of a performance he conceded was below par as Saints were beaten 3-0 at Liverpool on Saturday.
Redmond shared some memorable highs with the supporters in his debut season at St Mary’s last term, but says now is the time the players need that backing more than ever.
“We appreciate the support wherever we go one hundred per cent – home or away,” he said.
“They just have to stick with us, through the tough times and the good times.
“Obviously we had good times last season with getting to the cup final, which wasn’t too long ago, but through the bad times is when we need it the most.”
Redmond sees next Sunday’s home game with Everton as an opportunity to get back on track after back-to-back defeats in the Premier League.
“We’ve got the quality but we’ve got to believe in ourselves a bit more and get the confidence up,” he added.
“It starts in training and the work we’ll be doing there. We’ve got the chance to put things right next week at home against Everton.”
