“Not good enough” was the honest assessment of Southampton’s 3-0 defeat at Liverpool from Nathan Redmond.
Saints kept the Reds at arm’s length for 31 minutes at Anfield, but Mo Salah’s first of two goals before the interval swung the balance in favour of Jurgen Klopp’s team.
Redmond admits Saints have to improve and improve quickly ahead of next Sunday’s visit of Everton to St Mary’s.
“That wasn’t good enough from us,” said the winger.
“In the first part of the first half I thought we did alright, but we’ve got to be putting up more of a fight.
“I think we made a couple of mistakes that cost us in the first half. In the second half we tried to come out and play a bit more.
“We need to do more than in previous weeks. We’ve lost two on the bounce now and something has to change, which has to start from us on the training ground.
“Every game’s big. In the first ten games of the season we could’ve done better – those were big games and so are the ones coming up.
“Every single game for us is big because we want to get as many points as possible.”
