Callum Slattery is hoping to kick on even further after signing a new three-year contract with Southampton.

The 18-year-old midfielder has been involved in training with Mauricio Pellegrino’s side so far this summer.

And having seen those who perform well in the under-23s rewarded with opportunities previously, he is hoping to impress next season.

“The new manager has come in and you always want to impress and do the best that you can. Hopefully he can see a bit of talent in me and I can be with them for longer,” said Slattery

“It was very positive last season. Being with the under-18s and stepping up to play in the under-23s is a big step in the game.

“It was good for me to end the season with them and know that I was in and around that team is a good thing.

“For now, I’m focused on me playing football and just doing my best to see where I end up.”
