Southampton midfielder Steven Davis is set for action with Northern Ireland tonight, as they host New Zealand in a friendly.

Davis, who skippers his country as well as being club captain with Saints, is set to lead Michael O'Neill's team at Windsor Park (7.45pm BST).

The game acts as a final tune-up ahead of Northern Ireland's big World Cup qualifier away to Azerbaijan, on Saturday 10th June.

The Irish are currently second in Group C, with ten points from their first five games, behind only world champions Germany at the halfway stage.

Davis is looking forward to this evening's clash with New Zealand.

"We don’t get the opportunity to come back here too often and play," he said.

"There’s going to be a good crowd at Windsor Park, so we want to put on a good performance first and foremost for them, and carry the momentum into the game against Azerbaijan.

“You want to make the most of these opportunities, we don’t get too many days together throughout the year and the players will be desperate to impress the manager.”
