James Ward-Prowse has admitted that the month of March will live long in his memory, after winning the Under Armour Player of the Month.
The award tops off a memorable period for the Saints midfielder, during which he also made his senior England debut away against Germany.
“It’s a nice bit of recognition,” he explained.
“I think there are a few other lads that also could have won it, so it is obviously a nice personal accolade.
“There were two tough games during that month but I am obviously very pleased to get the award. It’s a month I will definitely remember.”
The 22-year-old played a key role in the 4-3 win over Watford to kick-start the month, before then scoring against Tottenham Hotspur in the final game.
And with Saints receiving a superb away following at both of those fixtures, Ward-Prowse admitted that it meant a lot to receive recognition from those supporters.
“They are the people you want to please the most,” he continued.
“They turn up in their thousands every week to come and support us, especially in the away games as well.
“We’ve had a lot of away games in the last couple of month as well, so for it to come from them is obviously a great feeling.”
