Claude Puel gave an honest assessment after Southampton’s 0-0 draw with AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League.
After starting the game well and creating a number of opportunities, the visitors came closest in the second-half when Harry Arter blazed over from the penalty spot.
Puel reflected: “It’s a little disappointment to take just one point against Bournemouth but when we see the game, it’s a normal draw because we cannot score from different opportunities in the first half.
“At the end the opponent took confidence and finished strongly. It was difficult to finish the game for us with many players tired from their travel and international games.
“We need to score when we are dominating the game. It was a very good start with good opportunities.
“We didn't find a clinical edge and it was a shame. In the second-half we started with a good spirit but afterwards it was difficult to keep this intensity for all of the game and we could have lost it.”
