Claude Puel says he has no fresh injury concerns ahead of Southampton’s trip to Watford on Saturday, and hopes his side take heart into the game from their cup final display.
Saints dominated against Manchester United last weekend, but came away from Wembley empty-handed, as Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s late second goal won it for José Mourinho’s side.
They now return to Premier League action, as they travel to Vicarage Road this weekend, and Puel says they will head there with the same squad as last Sunday.
“It’s the same injuries for us. For the other players, I think they can make a good recovery from the final and be fit for this game,” Puel said.
“The injury situation remains the same for this game. We have long injuries to Virgil, Charlie, Targett, Jérémy and Alex.
“For the other players they are in a good way, and have had good time to recover from the final.
“[The morale] is better than straight after the game. It was a strong game from us, with quality and character.
“We had all of the right ingredients for a final, the support from the fans was fantastic, but it was a bad result,” Puel continued.
“After the first disappointment, also now we have satisfaction to see our performance, which showed the quality we can put out on the pitch.
“We have to keep that confidence for Watford.”
