Manolo Gabbiadini has become the first player since Henri Camara to score in his first two Premier League games for Southampton.

Following his brace of goals at Sunderland over the weekend, Italian striker Gabbiadini, who scored the 400th goal by an Italian in the Premier League on his debut against West Ham, has now matched Camara’s feat of scoring in his first two Premier League games.

Camara achieved that feat with Southampton in 2005 when he scored in consecutive matches against Birmingham City and Everton.

And, if that’s a good omen with the EFL Cup Final looming, then Camara would even go onto score twice in his third game for Saints – a 2-2 draw with Brentford in the FA Cup.

Other players who have scored in consecutive games from their debut for Saints in all competitions include, Rickie Lambert in 2009 and, Colin Clarke in 1986.

Over the course of his first two games for Southampton, Gabbiadini has also attempted 11 shots, which is the most of any Premier League player from their first two appearances.

Gabbiadini needs to score in the next four Premier League games if he is to equal a club record of scoring goals in consecutive top-flight games not from their debut. James Beattie currently holds that title for Saints having scored in six successive matches between February and April in 2003, although he didn’t score in the two cup games sandwiched between that run.

If he is to continue his hot streak in the top-flight then Gabbiadini will have eyes on surpassing last season’s record-breaking goal streak by Jamie Vardy, who scored in 11 consecutive matches, including one against Southampton.
