Claude Puel was disappointed after his side failed to find the clinical edge to come away with a result against Swansea City.
Saints looked to be the side in the ascendancy after Shane Long’s goal had cancelled out Alfie Mawson’s first-half header.
But the hosts countered after defending a corner through Luciano Narsingh, who teed up Gylfi Sigurdsson for what proved to be the decisive blow.
“We’re disappointed of course because it was a game we could do better in. It was a good start in the beginning with a chance through Shane but without being clinical,” Puel reflected.
“After this, we lost our quality on the pitch without a good control or technical passes and crosses – it was not enough from us.
“We let this team come back into the game and they score from a corner against them.
“It is difficult to accept. Our second-half was better with a good goal from Shane and after the second goal on the counter attack it was difficult without a good balance.
“They found a clinical but not for us with a lot of chances without reward for our play.”
