Josh Sims is looking forward to an exciting future with Southampton, having today penned a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2020.
The 19-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough season with many highs so far this term, but there is one particular game that really stands out.
“Luckily for me there have been lots of good points so far,” Sims starts.
“There have been a lot of highlights since the start of the season, but I think the debut against Everton stands out because of how good the game was for me.
“It was at home and in front of all of the fans and my debut, so I would say that stands out. But I have to continue working now because this is only just the beginning.”
Sims is the latest Academy graduate to commit their future to the club, with Sam McQueen, Harrison Reed and Jake Hesketh also having recently signed new deals.
And the winger believes the faith the club are showing in the younger players is creating a positive atmosphere at Staplewood.
“It’s been nice to see other young players sign,” he continues.
“I’ve been playing with these lads a long time now, we’ve all come through the Academy together, so it’s nice to see the players that you work with every day progressing.
“For me, I want to work towards getting some more first-team appearances under my belt now. I just want to continue to show the staff what I can do.”
