Claude Puel was full of praise for Ryan Bertrand and Jordy Clasie after they netted in the memorable win at Arsenal.
Clasie’s first Saints goal was quickly followed by Bertrand’s first of the campaign, as Puel’s men won 2-0 at Emirates Stadium.
The victory saw them reach the last four of the competition, and Puel was pleased for the goalscoring duo.
“Bertrand and Clasie scored because they continued to attack into the box,” Puel explained.
“This is very important for us, because everyone has to score. It doesn’t just need to be the strikers.
“It’s a good thing for the future, because we need midfielders and defenders to be scoring goals too.”
Puel’s also praised the whole team for their fantastic display at Emirates Stadium, especially on the back of an intense victory against Everton.
“All of the players made very good work and they do in every game we play,” he added.
“We can see different possibilities and solutions against Arsenal. It was a strong game against Everton, with a good intensity.
“We kept that intensity against Arsenal, but with different players, and that was very good.”
